This site-specific installation of blue and green light in the two staircases of 548 West 22nd Street, New York City, exemplifies Flavin's subtle work in relation to a specific architectural context. Commissioned and completed in 1996 just prior to Flavin's death, it is his last work in fluorescent light.
548 West 22nd Street was formerly a Dia exhibition facility. The work was originally installed from 1996—2007, and was subsequently reinstalled in 2009.
