Dia Extends 7000 Oaks on West 22nd Street

In collaboration with The City of New York/Parks & Recreation, The New York Tree Trust, and the Arthur Ross Foundation, Inc., and local galleries and other private contributors, Dia Center for the Arts extended Joseph Beuys's 7000 Oaks project in May, 1996.

The plantings on 22nd Street incorporatee a variety of species including Pin Oak, Red Oak, Elm Honey Locust, Gingko, and Linden. In concert with Beuys's aim, the planting of the trees in the Chelsea area added to the greening of the area, as it continues Dia's commitment to the development of Chelsea as a new cultural center.
