Bookshop Assistant Manager, Full Time

The Bookshop Assistant Manager, part of the Visitor Services Staff, is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of a small but active museum bookshop, including the supervision of staff, maintaining and serving as a contact for the online bookshop, upholding the physical appearance of the store, helping to create a visitor/customer friendly atmosphere, facilitating sales, and learning and disseminating knowledge of the titles on hand.

Knowledge of contemporary art and retail experience is required for this position. Must be good with the public, exhibit strong decision making skills, and be able to set and maintain a professional profile. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel software is preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits offered.

Bookshop Assistant, Part Time

As the public face of Dia:Beacon, the Part Time Bookshop Assistant must have excellent public interaction skills and knowledge of Dia’s collection. Retail experience, regional familiarity and knowledge of contemporary art are preferred for this position. The Part Time Bookshop Assistant will assist with daily store operations, inventory management, and maintaining the physical appearance of the store. This is a part time, seasonal position which includes weekends.

Building Attendant – part time position available
Dia:Beacon seeks a Building Attendant to work part-time. Building Attendants are responsible for the security of both the building and grounds of the Dia:Beacon site. References required, certification preferred. The ability to work professionally with the public is necessary. Part-time position, seasonal hours: 16-24 hours, includes weekends.

Café Kitchen Supervisor, Full Time

The full-time Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the café kitchen, working closely with the café manager and assistant manager to maintain the café menu including inventory, ordering, and assist/manage staff. Duties also include working effectively with the kitchen staff to maintain menu options. Food service experience is preferred for this position, as well as strong organizational skills. Health training and food preparation knowledge is required. The Café is part of the Visitors services Department whose function as the public face of the institution is to serve the public efficiently, while protecting the interests and property of the Dia Art Foundation.

Hours:
30-40 hrs /week+ events
April—October, Thursday—Monday, 9:30-5:30pm
October—April, Friday—Monday, 9:30-5:00pm

Duties include:

Café Operations
- assist in creating and making café menu
- maintain overall cleanliness of the kitchen
- maintain inventory in the kitchen.
- work effectively and professionally with fellow café attendants to maintain a friendly atmosphere in the café
- maintain all cafe equipment, and inform manager of repairs
- communicate with manager in order to create and efficient working environment

-oversea kitchen staff and delegate work as needed when manager is not present

Café Attendant: Front of the House, Part Time

The café attendant front of the house position duties include, working closely with the other café attendants to provide a positive customer service atmosphere. The Café is part of the Visitors services Department whose function as the public face of the institution is to serve the public efficiently and professionally while protecting the interests and property of the Dia Art Foundation.

Hours:
24-30+ hours/ week April—October
18-24+ hours/ week November—March occasionally assist with special events
Duties include but not limited to:

Café Operations:
- receiving customer orders and requests
- maintaining general cleanliness of the dining room including bussing tables, organizing and restocking the condiment bar, and drinks case, and monitoring the bussing stations and garbages
- monitoring inventory and stocking when needed
- work effectively with fellow café attendants to maintain the cleanliness of the café
- provides effective and friendly customer service
